Ray, the vertical order is different for different years, earlier cars had a switch for the panel lights in the topmost position. The later cars had a rheostat for the panel lights, in the center pos

According to Bill Piggott, some cars had the rheostat as early as TS43000 (Feb 59), but it didn't become standard until TS60001 (Oct 59). The instrument panel is also different on cars with the rheo

For some reason I always get a kick out of the idea of dim able instrument lights on a TR3 (or at least MY TR3). On my car the range of the rheostat would have be something like "Barely Visible" to "

I wouldn't mind having a dimmer on my TR3, since all of the instrument lamps are quite bright. However, I've repainted the interior cases of all of my instruments, so this might be the reason. -- Geo
