I found that by using my knees behind the wheel and tapping the spindle with a hammer I was finally able to break the grip of my old wheel. Use the nut to protect the threads and don't get neandertha

I had to do this in my B not long ago and the only recourse was to take out the steering column, remove the wiper switch (my turnsignal/dimmer/horn switch was broken so I didn't care if I smacked it
