First attempt with the tube shocks resulted in a really stiff ride. I think I need to adjust the mounting point at the top where it attaches to the body. There is another mounting point that will giv

When I mounted my tube shocks on my BGT I didn't use the plate at all. I simply put a long bolt through the frame at the orig. front mount hole. Works fine and ride feels right. http://www.teglerizer

Well, are the plates identical, or merely symmetrical (mirror images)? The difference being with the former it doesn't matter, but with the latter it certainly would. I wouldn't expect them to be mar

Does that give the bolt enough support? I think the idea of a plate is to spread the forces around more. -- Max Heim '66 MGB GHN3L76149 If you're near Mountain View, CA, it's the primer red one with

You need to re-think the whole shock thing. Moving the mounting point will not give the shock more travel, unless you have the wrong shocks on the car (too long). The travel is dictated by the rest o

What cars other than MG's use more than one shock bolt at each end? :-) (rhetorical question of course) Stop and think about it.... even big ass 2 ton pickups still only use one bolt at each end. My

Yeah, but it's not usually just a through bolt. Generally it's some kind of stud set into the subframe, on a unibody. I wasn't worried about it loosening up, particularly, but of it stressing the pan

OK here is what I did. I reversed the mounting plate up top on the body of the car. I attached the shock to the forward most nut that is welded to the plate (towards the front of the car). I did not

This is more of a general comment. I converted my MGB to spax shocks over 9 years ago. I got the kit from moss, and it had a mounting bracket that goes under the spring, and one that went on the stan

I couldn't use tube shocks on my C even if I wanted to, as I run twin exhausts that don't leave room. I agree with Kelvin that single bolt mounting to the frame would make me nervous. I would not bot

Stiff is fine on a race car, and I'm quite happy with the uprated lever arms on the front of my race B too, but the factory installed adjustable shocks on the rear of the works cars for a good reason
