Hi Paul - I don't think you need to re-install the lower chain guide. When I rebuilt my U-20 I left it out and the engine is still going strong after about 15,000 miles. The old guide had broken, and

Although I reinstalled the chain guide when I rebuilt my U20, it is a toss-up. I was told that before I put the new guide back in the car, that I should run a weld bead aliong the new one to reinforc

Well I put mine back in and shimmed the tensioner to take up most the slack. You should also shim the upper tensioner even with all new parts. Just my two cents. Jim 70 2000 -- Subject: RE: U20 Lower
