Last night I dropped the pan. And I found the source of the noise. The crank is badly buggered at the #4 rod journal. Oh sh*t! Oh sh*t! Oh sh*t! And the rod bearings are already 20 over. Perhaps this

My sympathies... sounds like you're looking at a major rebuild. Since your engine has been rebuilt at least once, you may not be able to reuse some parts like your crank. You can only turn them down

If the crank looks bad (if the journal isn't shiny), it needs to be reground. If it's badly scored, and already .020 under, you may need to build up the journal some before grinding. I've heard that
