Motorcycles are what I was thinking about. What size 4 cycle will keep up with a 500cc GP 2 stroke. The outboard is restricted in RPM and power by the restrictive exhaust (under water) system. Using

I suspect that part of the difference between marine and motorcycle engines is due to their intended application. A marine engine is designed for continuous high output power while a MC engine is de

I agree completely Neil. I think you could easily double the HP and have a very reliable Bonneville motor IF you kept the peak RPM about the same. I suspect the GP engines are using ceramic rollers o

I was thinking about the normally aspirated application. For Streamliners, Rick has shown me the way to address the 3.0L blown classes. 1200 plus HP! I can't think of a more cost effective approach.

I suspect you already know the answer to your question-- todays 1-liter 4-strokes are only a little faster (about 20 - 25% more powerful) than the 500cc 2-strokes that dominated MotoGP in 2002. Anot
