I guess you mean from the distributor Vac. Advance unit which is on the side of the dizzy. The tube goes from there to a tube fitting on the intake manifold, slightly to the rear of center. Rick Morr

The article make mention that the vacuum advance can be made to operate by sucking on the pipe coming from the carb, at which time the plate on which the points are mounted will move thus advancing t

What you describe is the standard test for checking the vacuum diaphragm and advance. You should not be able to suck any air from the diaphragm - if you can it is leaking and will be affecting mixtur

I tried this on my '74 (25D dizzy), and didn't get a BIT of movement. And I have fairly strong lungs (although most of the time they're BLOWING hot air instead of going the other way...). The unit wa

The electronic ignition you removed had vacuum retard to control emissions. This device actually makes the car run worse under light load but I believe that it reduces oxides of nitrogen by reducing

You should be able to make it work by sucking on the vacuum hose. If it doesn't work that easily it needs to be taken apart and cleaned up. The purpose of the vacuum advance is to get an earlier spar

Vacuum is higher when the foot is removed from the accelerator pedal. Vacuum is produced by the engine pistons drawing air/fuel mixture into the cylinder. When the throttle is closed a partial vacuu

It is not an issue of the rpms alone, but the combination of revs and throttle opening. At idle, the vacuum is fairly high, because the engine is running and the throttle plate is amost closed. Think
