- The original dash is too light colored to be American Black walnut, however, wood can be lightened by processing, such as dipping in oxalic acid, so one can't really tell by the color. I believe Engl

- Dave, when you take the dash out, the area covered by the top of the dash, and the knee protector, did not allow the sun to bleach the finish/wood, and you will find that the original dash is darker,
