- The LM317 is an adjustable solid state voltage regulator, and yes it will work. Another possible replacement is the 78XX series that comes in fixed voltage assignments, but even those can be adjusted

- Tom, I'm surprised nobody has called you on that before now. Maybe your Spit doesn't have an "E" on the fuel gauge, but mine and all others who have original equipment Jaeger gages do. That includes
