Hello Sunbeamers: I've got a new, kind of weird problem. When the Tiger is started dead cold, the water temperature quickly sometimes goes waaay up (230-240). No warm air from the heater at all while

There is a bypass hose on the thermostat housing that allows water to pass directly to the water pump and back through the engine. If this hose were blocked, it would probably produce the symptoms y

That really sounds as though the thermostat is sticking.I don't think the air in the system would be causation. It would just tend to run hotter and heat up rapidly while stopped or in traffic if th

I would say your Tiger is being very kind to you. Would you prefer it gives you these surprises during your trip? Be thankful you are wise enough and have time to give the Tiger a good once over bef

I have been watching this thread and it sounds to me if you discount the temperature reading the car operates normally. Cold on start up and normal after warm up and in traffic. So, check the temp s

I'd look at the t/stat housing (for being plugged), more than the hose. The fitting that the bypass hose goes to usually has a pretty lousy cast job and the hole for the bypass water was always too s
