The water temp gauge in my '72 Spitfire IV reads hot - as in all the way against the peg on the right side of the gauge. The water - as tested with a candy thermometer after a run - is 180 degrees F

You will know if its your stabilizer if your fuel tank reads + 1/4 of a tank. ie you run out when it says you've got a 1/4 left...

First of all, disconnect the wire at the sender, and see if the gauge reads Then go buy a $25 digital voltmeter that reads ohms, and measure the resistance between the sender terminal and the block.

If you are going by that test make sure you can acutally get the full amount of gas in after running out of gas. My Spitfire always runs out of gas at about 1/4 or 1/3 left on the gauge. On the other

I'd start out with the sender. My '71 did the same thing, & that was the only problem. Andy Henderson
