I've wondered... was Dove pronounced with one syllable 'duv' like the bird? Or with 2 syllables 'doe-vay'? Geo Hahn

According to the literature I have (Piggott's "Original Triumph"), the "e" originally had an accent (i), and it was indeed pronounced "doe-vay." However, this was later dropped, and the correct pron
