Today, a gorgeous day, I met two (count 'em: 2!) MGs driving in my town, a small town of 3000 people where I probably have the only one, unless someone else is keeping theirs tucked away. One was a B

Carbs all do the same job, though not necessarily in the exactly the same way. Sometimes, the stock carb is restrictive so a larger choke diameter will allow the engine to breather better at higher

Thanks - that's very helpful. Seems to be performance and response are the factors. I understand that with the carb I also have to change the exhaust. What has to get changed to help choke diamter?

is the Weber particularly bad in? I seem to recall that the Weber downdraft carb was approved for use on emissions controlled MGB in California. But please don't ask me to dig it up. Barney Gaylord 1

I put a Weber on my 78 Midget to replace the ZS. I would not go back. Better performance, better gas mileasge, better sound, especially when the second barrel opens up. I spent about $350 on the car

Not real sure about the emissions thing. When I put the Weber on the Midget, I tuned it by ear. My timing light had failed. I set the idle, timing, mixture by what sounded the best. The next morning

I don't believe the Weber is particularly different from an emissions standpoint. I think what you are referring to is that many jurisdictions require a visual inspection for original required emissi

Hi Tab. the The choke dia. is simply the hole(s) through the carb. Usually, the accompanying mainfold is matched so the choke dia. ends up larger, thus allowing more better airflow. Knowing this I do

About 1984 I put a 40DCOE on my 1275 spridget. My gas mileage dropped to about 10MPG, and the car developed a "flat spot" from idle up to about 4000 RPM. Even with the coaching of folks who knew the
