I'd vote for a 3.9 if you have a 1275, ribcase and stock tire size. Ulix

3.909:1 These are durable and readily available. 3.7:1 These will give you the best top end but tend to be a little weaker and not so available (mainly because they were only available on the 78.5 an

Hi Dan , 3.9 might be fine at sea level on the freeway. On twisty mtn. roads where acceleration is more interesting than top end , I would opt for a 4.22 or even a 4.55. My 2 cents , Mark Hanna AN5

That's my setup, but it depends on what you want to do. Lots of "short work", ie. tight turns, hills, twisties, 4.22 or lower (4.55 and 4.88 are racing ratios used commonly). On the track during my w

For best acceleration/responsiveness, use the 4:55 or 4:87. My race bugeye with its 948 loves the high revs so I use the 4:87 limited slip on tracks such as BlackHawk, Gingerman and Grattan. For Road

On the street my vote goes for a 3.9 if you have a 1275 and a stock ribcase 4 speed. 5 speed and 1275, go for a 4.22. If you wanna be first off the light, grab a 4.55 but don't expect to go much fast

I completely agree. My response was based purely on the idea of normal pleasure driving; not on racing or lower band acceleration. Dan == Dan Dwelley 77 Midget Alexandria, Va. ______________________
