On my '70 B, on the rear engine plate, below the starter hole there is another hole. That hole had a rubber cover on it with a metal interior. The rubber was so rotten that it came apart when I tried

I found a picture that has it, but I still don't know what it was. It is on page 43 of the Haynes manual. It is the black round cover. What is that? (So I can buy another one...) Andrew Lundgren Lund

The rubber plug fills the hole that was used to access the torque converter bolts on automatic MGBs and Marinas. The plug is Moss part number 297-495 Lawrie British Sportscar Center
