OK... I think this makes sense. Probably because the hubs are not balanced, so when you bolt on a balanced wheel/tire, it rotates with the hub, which of course is not balanced. Is this right? If so,

I've been in a lot of tire shops, but I've never seen a device for balancing wheels ON a car. How is this done? Chad Stretz 73 TR6

They have a device that they attach to the wheel itself and when they spin the wheel, they can move some disks in the middle that balances it (stroboscopically I think) and when they stop the wheel,

Simple. They raise the car a few inches, put a device under the wheel which spins the wheel up to 50mph or so and then attach balance weights to it until it is balanced. Guy at the shop said that man

Yes, I understand this. Let's say you were a racer, and you have lots of different wheels with tires mounted. It would be pain, would it not, to have to have each set of wheels balanced on the car. T
