I would go with the earliest carbs with fixed needles for thorough rebuild, were I in your shoes (boots, sneakers, Nike's, sandals, whatever!:). And definitely no poppet valves, which are designed to

All I can say is that Joe sees a lot more SU carbs with soldered plates than most of the List combined. For the price of a pair of solid disks, my choice is pretty simple.
