Greetings all, I have a 77B with no engine. I did not plan on looking for an engine for a while, however, I have stumbled across a 1974 1800cc MGB engine. Being new to the hobby, my main question is

I know this will not effect Mark-II+ cars, but my experience is that 4-synchro trannys will not fit in Mark-I cars because the Mark-I tranny-tunnel is narrower. Please correct me if I'm not. David '6

Hello Dave. No, you are wrong. I have a 67B. With a 1980 overdrive tranny in it. I install it and it is bolted to the 67B engine. The only modification to the body is to extend the shifter hole. Two

Paul, my only point here was that I believe the widening/changing of the transmission tunnel was due to the 'C' being introduced, not the 'V8'... And I'm not sure the factory would change the car sim

The tunnel got wider to accommodate the automatic transmission, a Borg Warner type 35. The factory V8 used the standard MG 4 syncro transmission. The C is a different body ... Well sorta .... Larry H
