- There are some roll crimp pliers specially made for OE style connectors that dont cost a fortune. A good tool shop should have them. On spade connectors there's a little metal tab to hold them in tho

- For what its worth, I am living proof that some of the early 1600s came with plugs for the alternator and regulator that are different (smaller) than the ones most often used. I have photos of them,
