Hi John; The only thing I'd be afraid of is having the gear and/or shaft wear from the slippage of the gear on the shaft. But if you're not in fifth gear, its countergears are freewheeling, so there

5th gear neutral can also be caused by the main [tail] shaft nut backing off. This nut should be torqued to ~140 ft-lbs and it not properly installed, correct thrust washer and collar thickness, and
