What you are describing sounds more like a driveshaft than a rear end. Worn out diffs' tend to howl, not shake. Carefully check the u-joints NOW. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Visual inspecti

Suggest that you look elsewhere first, such as u joints, tranny mount, driveshaft. Replacement of ring and pinion requires specific knowledge of setup, not a job that you want to tackle w/o experienc
