Hi Rick, the short answer is an XF is a Ford Flathead V8 which has inherent gasflow and power limitations due to the porting and side-valves. An XO is generally a GMC OHV Six which has more favorable

A blower won't overcome the Flatty's intake shortcomings, just mask them to some degree. The best performing Flatty's have either placed all the ports through the upper (intake) surface of the block
