Ok, i too thought that the seat bottom should go under those tabs but I could never make it happen so rather than ask anyone I decided that those tabs were more of a stop for the seat back to rest on

The seat bottom definitely slides under the tabs on the back of the seat base. If your tabs are bent down the seat bottom won't fit under them. PS I suspect is not commonly known that there were also
