it looks like you may have the right idea! Apparently, there's limited horizontal space (inner wheel arch) as well, which leaves little room for a spacer between the carbs and manifold anyway! Curre

Just remember when you are adding material to extend the front flange area downwards and port the opening lower than original. This will require filling in the top of the port opening a bit depending

Thanks for the input on my What Carb question...I've fiddled with 'em long enough though, and am ready to bolt on some dependable units. I plan on upgrading to freshly rebuilt 175's, and we will fab

Hi John, When I converted to HD 8's in my 2.5 GT6 I didn't bother with the adapter route. If you look at your intake manifold you will notice the skinny runners leading up to flange plus the flange i

I'm quite sure that the standard items on your '68 GT6 would have been the 150s. Although I haven't checked the actual clearance myself, several sources (this list as well as "my mechanic" indicate

Thanks for the input. I'll question Duane (my mechanic) about the difference in flange size, etc. How did you come up with a 2.5 liter engine with a manifold that was too small for the carbs? Are HD

HD8's are 2" SU's and the flange as I remember it was like a 45 degree oval. The carbs needed a more square face to bolt to. In increase my flange surface size to accommodate the larger carbs I added

Okay, so you're talking about a TR6 manifold and going from the ZS 175 to the HS 8. Got it. Thanks for the clarification. I do like the "bolt-on-ability" of the adapter plate as opposed to modifying

No, It was a GT6 manifold. The TR6 manifold would sit too high, and at the time I didn't realize you could flip the thing upside down as someone just mentioned. Fat chance, we are talking about a Tri
