Is there a better way? There certainly is!! Take those new style "E" clips supplied with w/cyls for the past 10 years and throw them out. If your original old style circlips are OK, use them, if not

Ive found some success by having my wife stand on the brake peddal. This seems to hold the cylinder tight against the backing plate most of the time. Then I can remount the cir-clip with less strugg

If you simply clamp a pair of ViceGrips onto the axle flange so that the back of the upper jaw is wedged against the slave cylinder, it will hold that sucker (OK, you are right, it doesn't suck, it p
