I believe that was the purpose, particularly for the one on the transmission. The speedo to cable right angle drive seem to be less critical and less common to see in use. I recently tried the direct

They do relieve stress, you can eliminate them both by choosing one of the longer cables, but I don't remember which years are the long ones. The one behind the dash is nothing but problems and can u

The right angle drive isn't too hard to fix. The most common problem is that the square end that goes into the transmission twists off. To fix this you will need about 1-1/2 inches of 1/8" square key

The Parts Catalogue indicates only one was used, from Aug 71 to May 72, and again from Jun 76 on. At other times a longer cable was used. -- Original Message -- From: "Paul Root" <proot@iaces.com> To

I'm contemplating a repair to the lower speedometer angle drive which decided to pack it in on my 71 MGBGT. The gears are still good, but the stub cable is chewed up and I have yanked out the remaini

There is a brass(?) piece in there that the stud would have been pressed into. Just find the appropriate square stock, slightly less than 1/8" and available from hardware stores. Slip it into this br

That's the kind of information I was looking for. The only problem I can foresee, is that the square stock will not have the flex that the original drive had, but if you've done it and found that it
