Hello list. My '70 TR6 consumes brake fluid pretty rapidly, but I find no signs of leakage. I assume maybe the booster is the culprit. Can I rebuild it myself? How difficult is it? Must the booster b

Ummmm, I wouldn't be so sure about that. The Brake servo has no fluid pasing through it so no effect on leakage. The Master cylinder is famous for leakage, but in that case you should find fluid unde

Hi Eric, Yes you can rebuild your own servo. I did several this past winter and describe the process on our club website. A description of how the servo works is in latter part of the first link bel

Thanks, I'll check the master cylinder. But I KNOW I read somewhere that it's very common for the booster to go bad and suck fluid into the intake manifold. And, get this: when I bought the car the

Eric--I suppose the booster could suck brake fluid thru it in certain circumstances, but the fluid can only get there thru a faulty seal in the MC. There is a weep slot indented in the servo, just be

I had this situation. The MC leaked and all the fluid ended up in the Servo Drum. I had to replace the MC and wash out the servo. I sprayed lithium grease into the servo after months of drying it out

Hi Eric, You might try bloking off the vacuum for the booster and see if the fluid consumption lessens. I'm not sure how the brakes will perform but they will most probably be less efficient in terms
