I wouldn't suspect the drive shaft, if it fits it's the right one. The whining could be comming from the bearings in the tranny or from the rear end itself. Don't wait to check it out do it now.... I

This isn't totally true; it is possible to fit a non-OD driveshaft on a Type D OD unit in the early B's. The OD driveshaft is about 1" or maybe a little more longer than a non-OD driveshaft; however
