If it was longer than a few seconds between restarts, I'd guess vapour lock. Are you running stock carb and ignition? maybe a normal, Mark Milotay, Principal On the Mark Software & Consulting

I think the engine IS shutting off at speed, but you don't notice until you down since the clutch is engaged and the wheels are continuing to turn it over. Since the tach is zeroing, I would suspect

hey mike ...if your 80 still has the lucas electronic ignition that is probably what is causing the car to stop. as it cools it re-starts. you need to by-pass the lucas module on the distributor with

And of course, you because you loose the ignition timing pulses at the coil the electronic tack will show no revs. Hence the engin appering to drop to zero revs. One sugestion, why not get a new Luca
