Just a random thought, Dick... Is the alternator indicator bulb "good" and/or hooked into the system? Are you sure? I ask because a sure sign of an unproductive alternator (bad diode) is a lit altern

Check the alternator, idiot light bulb. That light's needed to excite the alternator fields at start up. When light goes out, alternator should be charging fine. IMPORTANT!! Alternator equipped cars,

Unplug the alternator wire from the back and hook up a volt gauge or tester to it. You should have 14.8 volts + or - coming off the large terminal. -- Frank Clarici Toms River, NJ
