Could be the flex hose rotted inside with flaps of rubber holding the pressure in the slave. The pedal should also have its own return spring. PaulH.

Checked, found the plug, found the hole, no dipstick. Is my "all synchro" gearbox one that has the fill/level check plug in the side? If so, the level hasn't been checked in years. No clue. Gary 74 B
