Just received a new pair of chekstraps for my GT (73 chrome bumper, tube axle) only to find out they were about 1" short when the car is supported on axle stands located under the rear axle. Is this

Yes, my exhaust goes under the axle and so does the handbrake cable. That's not so good is it, eh? So matters become more and more complex back there and there's four things I've got to sort out: a.

The exhaust is *supposed* to go under the axle and so does the handbrake When the car is on its wheels there should be slack in the rebound strap, but you do have to jack under the axle some when the
