- Try finding someone that does soda blasting. It will remove the crud and leave a shiny surface. Make sure the "soft" stuff is off it first, though, because the soda tends to bounce off the softer stu

- How about getting a gallon of carburetor cleaner from NAPA and soaking the piston in that stuff? It is really good at dissolving the gunk and carbon in carbs, maybe it would do a super job on pistons
