Huw, It is much more involved than that. If you install coil-overs, it is assumed that you will be removing the leaf spring. Of course, that provides the upper control arm of the swing axle suspensio

My Mk1 Spitfire has the conventional leaf spring, but the previous owner had installed a small coil over shock that fits the original shock mounts with no interference. I assume he did this because

A Spit I recently 'pass-over' only caught my eye on the side of the road because of the GT6 bonnet. (thought is was a Spit6/CGT6) anyway... the guy had also used coil overs in the rear. They were J.C
