I'm rebuilding my 1600 engine. Got some good ideas from group members about using a 1800 head. What's a fair price to pay for a used mgb head, guaranteed against cracks? Does the year matter? Thanks

Hello JOHN, Early 70's MGB head. The letter "L" stamped at the rear. Had bigger valves and no water return hole for the hot water chokes. Have one on my 67B I am building. There is a head shop in Cha

Gents ... the early 'B'(pre 18V) cylinder heads have 1.58' intake valves and a 43cc combustion chamber ... the later 'B' (18V) cylinder heads have 1.625' intake valves and a 38cc combustion chamber.

If he want to use it for racing then it probably an 18V head that will require the cut outs in the block. Yep you can check the shape of the combustion chamber and/or the size of the valves ... best
