The passenger-side mirror is probably an after-market addition (although I think some of the later cars may have had them fitted in the factory). Sounds as though the person who fitted it didn't make

Do you mean 'door' mirror? The door mirrors on the Mk IV and 1500s are held in place by a small grub screw (Allen head) which is hidden from view. This clamps the mirror to a bracket that is screwed
