I have used both side-entry and top-entry caps on the same 25D (but not at the same time ...) without difficulty. Voltaire and Ampere were French, Ohm was German. Funny that symbols should be Greek.

Carl: The 41427 distributor is a more modern 45D design. The 25D side entry cap will not fit on the unit. There is a side entry 45D cap, but it is not generally available and uses push on connectors

Yes and no - in my UK 73 at least - they are 'plug compatible'. The 45D has the benefit that it is easier to undo the clamp to block screws when removing the distributor for points change or adjustme

On the 25D on our 67B there is an A-R knob that can be used to adjust the timing without loosening the dizzy (I think). Is this an advantage, or does it allow more problems to occur with the dizzy? M

It does allow fine tuning without spanners it is true. But in all my experience that simply isn't necessary, the only times I have to adjust my timing is when I have changed or reset the points, whic

It's not a problem, no; but the total range of adjustment via the knob is only something like 4 degrees -- enough for fine tuning but not enough to avoid unclamping the dizzy when setting it up from

I seem to recall that same figure. When I counted the total number of clicks end-to-end one time, I also recall it was forty or so, which is how I came up with the "4 degrees" figure. But it has been
