So, are 'dog-leg' first gears always 'dog engagement' boxes? Or is a dog-leg first (or fifth, sixth, whatever) simply a descriptive term for any gear outside of the main pattern (ala Porsche 914)? Mi

You at least have the sense to liquify that corn first, I assume. I've heard dog-leg first most often referred to when talking about the Porsche 914 tranny. Seem to remember first hearing the term in
