Here's an FYI for anyone thinking about an electric cooling fan: I received the new J.C.Whitney catalog tonight & they have 16" diameter cooling fans (too big for many of our cars) on sale for $69.95

I have a 78 mgb with the electric cooling fans. I have not had any troubles with it except when I drive up to a group of other lbc people. They are all amused at how long the fans run. Depending on t

-- REPLY FROM: White, Richard H. Steve, I believe you might have a bad relay on the passenger side fender well, near the fusebox. These are under rated and burn up on all late model cars. Replace wit

I replaced the engine-driven cooling fan on the 'B with an electric version. There is only about 2" of room behind the radiator, so I had to mount the fan in front (pushing air through the radiator).

**tongue in cheek mode ON** Thomas As stated in a thread earlier this year - it has something to do with the velocity being too high to actually transfer the heat from the radiator - much like the al

Hi Thomas: The fan itself probably causest the reduced cooling when it's off. If probably freewheels which interrupts air flow through the rad. In addition, the motor would block a fair amount of cor

My guess is that the electric draw of the fan makes the temp gauge needle move down much like how the lights dim when you turn on that 2,000 Megawatt stereo system. **tongue in cheek mode ON** Thomas

My assumption is that the airflow was originally channeled through the radiator because the radiator support bulkhead had only one opening, for the radiator, and the air went on through it. Having pa

Obviously there are many factors here, so it is likely that having fans before and after will be different. But of note, your post seems to be of the opinion that a fan behind the radiator won't "blo

No disagreement with you; I've raced sailboats for years. The point I was trying to make was that an obstruction in front of an opening will have a larger effect on the airflow than a smaller obstruc

I suggest the fan needs to be behind the radiator pulling rather than pushing. That's the way it is on most production cars, and I recall reading of someone with a GT6 moving his electric fan behind
