I think resistor plugs would help. Or my car had some capacitors on it, one was hooked up at the fuel pump and one on the negative LT of the coil.

Supression plug wires will certainly help - but maybe reduce the size of the spark. Also, check the condition of the condensor (capacitor) in the distributor - it may be contributing to the problem.
