If you have a spare driveshaft, you can remove the front piece and put it in the tranny as you are removing the whole unit to keep the mess minimal. Don't forget the clutch slave line, ground strap,

My own particular caveat is to watch out for the 'pilot bearing' if you separate the engine from the gearbox. Novice that I am, I didn't know that it should be there, until I found it on the floor. I
