Northern Tools has a 1000 lb engine stand for $34.99. The 1250 lb stand is $69.99 which is disproportionate. Makes me wonder. Anyone have experience with the 1/2 ton stand and is it adequate? Bill '7

Bill a 1/2 ton stand is more than enough for an MG engine. When my engine was apart I could pick up the block on my own which means that its by far less than a 100Kg. Don't waste your money on a stan

When I was buying Bill, the smaller stand was basically a three leg stand while the 1250lb stand was a four. Translated, I mean, the bigger stand has a wide footprint at the end of the long central l

I don't work on big or heavy engines but I opted for the "H" shaped engine stand for stability. It takes up no more floor space except for that front crossbar that I tripped over until I got used to

There is one of the 1250Lb stands on eBay right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2000177476 It has no bids, starting bid is $36.95, no reserve, and it ends in 5 hours. Hurr

The $34.99 stand is disproportionately low, and totally adequate for even an Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 engine. I know; mine from Harbor Freight (same stand, $50 + freight in 1986) carried the Healey's e

Check out the shipping costs! You will be better off picking one up at your local auto parts store - I just got one last week in Easton PA and saved the $30+ shipping. Rick -- http://www.mgcars.org.u
