I just had to replace the old exhaust system on my SV in order to get it safety inspected. It only had a muffler, no resonator, or vice versa, I don't really no which and it was old and rusted out.

You could use a hole saw to drill a straight through passage in your muffler. This would make it a little louder and reduce the backpressure caused by the baffles inside the muffler. loud,,,,,,,,but

Did you get your system from Sunbeam Specialties? I did, and it sounds real nice. Very throaty and loud under heavy acceleration. CNA

(amount of noise) you get and the resonator influences the tone and where it occurs in the rev range. Eg my Commodore had a good V8 burble but tended to have an annoying 'drone' at highway speeds -

Thanks to everyone on their thoughts on my exhaust. I ended up just removing the rear resonator and it sounds like a sports car. I admit the radio is harder to hear and if I were to go on along road
