does anyone know for sure if a later nodel spitfire ehaust manifold will fit an earlier model spitfire engine? specifically, a '77 1500 maifold on a '72 1300 engine. thanks == nikolai jaremka 72 spit

If you use the exhaust system for the year of vehicle the manifold was for you shouldn't. But if you use the exhaust system for the earlier car, you might indeed. It may require some cutting and fitt

Hi Nikolai There shouldn't be any problem unless you are using a single carb, I fitted one to a Herald, yes the one I got into trouble in aged 17, had to fit the twin carbs to clear the bigger bulge!

now, i admitt that i haven't seen a 1500 engine bay lately, but i don't see how i would have a problem with a single carb, when the 1500 used a single carb on the Fedral models. maybe the herald had

all the parts books i've seen (except the ones for the UK market) have the 1500 manifold as a 4-1 design with a single stromberg. however they also have catalitic converters, except i think for the 7
