- Once had a similar problem. Before you go replacing the pump, make sure all of your chassis grounds are tight and clean. BTDT! I used to drive down the road and the car would suddenly quit...dead. T

- Before I got too radical, I would first check the ground point for the fool pump. It should be attached to one of the bolts that anchors the boot lid catch. Make sure the ground strap there is clean

- What a weird way of checking there's voltage on a hot lead directly let it spark to ground. It's quite obvious the fuse will be gone by now or you might have other damage. Better use a lamp or voltm

- Pull the outlet tubing off the pump, then try and see if it pumps. Also, if there is a filter before the pump, replace it. At this point, if there is no fuel flow, I'd say replace the pump. As a fin

- Well, the valve slowly spins in it's guide. Since the weakness is caused by some defect in the valve or seat shaping, it might change as the valve and seat line up in different ways. Just a WAG. -- T
