I always put the front end on jacks, maybe 12-14 "in height under the front part of the frame. Makes the engine removal and install easier, getting to the tranny brace and speedo cable is a challenge

I used a standard engine hoist, (cherry picker). It did a very nice job. I used a chain bolted to the outer sear belt holes. It seemed to be balanced at that point. Cost was about $190 at costco. It
