IIRC from when I did it, you can access the back of that post from the hole in the panel that the hood frame is mounted on. you have to remove the hood frame and the trim piece that covers the panel,

You can also get at them from the boot. To put the nuts in, I taped a small box end wrench to a piece of welding rod, put a bit of tape on the bottom of the box end so the nut wouldn't drop through.
