My understanding is that as a fuel a given amount of hydrogen burned in an internal combustion engine creates more heat than the same amount of gasoline.Is this true, or is this stating the question

If the H@ is used in a fuel cell then it should be ok. Cracking gasoline ot get the H2 is as problematic as the other issues with H2 becaus eyo ar left with a a esidue that has to be dumped somewhere

The byproducts of the H2 fuel process are harmless, but what about H2 it's self???? Bryan Good point on the leakage. I wouldn't say the byproducts are harmless in the quantities we're talking about.

I agree-- I've long thought the best way to transport hydrogen as a motor fuel is to attach it to carbon atoms. There was some talk a while back about research into attaching hydrogen to metal atoms
