I hope someone from the list can enlighten me on the value of retarding ignition timing to get more mph. I have heard it's done in high gear. I'm not sure how many degrees is typical and I'd like to

That comes from runnng too much timing in the lower gears. For this to work it would have to make more power on the dyno with less timing. If it makes more power retarded why would you advance it is

I was told that it may improve your 60 foot time because the cool aluminum combustion chamber can take more advance. Through the rest of the gears in a 1/4 mile the timing is "correct". Nothing said
