There is not much to the plate. It is a bear to get to though. You have to the panel next to the wheel hump and fish it out after bending up the tabs. If you drop it it's gone. I have my spare stored

Try retapping the hole. If that doesn't work, use a helicoil and a new screw to match the threads on the helicoil. Rob Kempinski
